Grand Lux Cafe- Chicago

I spent the most wonderful vacation with my sister Hannah and her kids. Our road trip destination was Holland, Michigan where each day we lived it up to the fullest. Since Chicago was only 2 hours away we made a day trip out of it filled with amazing food and shopping on Michigan Avenue. Our first stop was Grand Lux Cafe- oh my was the food absolutely stunning to look at but also quite delicious.

Just look at that amazing salad. Hannah's mom fell in love with it and ever since then she's been coming back just to eat this salad. Manhattan Salad- chopped salad with romaine lettuce, asparagus, tomato, white beans, fresh beets, red onion, peas, lentils, and assorted vegetables all tossed in a house vinaigrette. I must say that although I shy away from most vegetables this salad was absolutely scrumptious. When I make an attempt to eat vegetables they have to be marinated or cooked. This salad captured the fresh essence of all of the vegetables. Oh and how could i forget the baguette chips, delish.

Avocado and Heirloom Tomato Salad- Avocado, Heirloom cherry tomatoes and frisee with mustard vinaigrette. This one Hannah's tapas salad, I'm sure it was delicious!
Buffalo Chicken Bites- chicken breast, cheese and spicy buffalo sauce, fried crisp with blue cheese dressing. These little ones were perfectly spicy and had an amazing crunch to them.
Duck Triangles- Crispy wrappers filled with minced duck, onions, garlic, ginger, soy, and sesame. Oh my, so good. So good! The textures and flavors were amazing. The wrapper was crispy and delicate while the filling was so flavorful. It tasted similar to a lumpia (Filipino spring rolls)

Spanish Chorizo and Cheese Croquettes- spanish sausage, potatoes, sauteed onions and parmesan cheese, lightly breaded and fried to a crispy golden brown, served with spicy aioli. Once again great texture as you bite into the crunchy exterior you get the smooth cheesy filling with a bite from the potato bits.
The insides of this croquette leaves me speechless.
Grand Lux Cafe was the perfect lunch spot as we were able to sit right by the window.
